February 10th, Carl Clark, MD, President & CEO, Mental Health Center of Denver

January 23, 2021 by Chris Hadley

Mental Health and Well-Being During COVID-19

Please join us February 10th at 11:30 am MST for a presentation with Carl Clark, MD, President and CEO of the Mental Health Center of Denver.

In this presentation titled, Mental Health and Well-Being During COVID, Dr. Carl Clark will cover how this pandemic has affected the mental health of ourselves and those around us. The presentation will look at the psychological effects related to the shutdown, how social isolation is affecting individuals and families, and the growing concern over a second public health crisis of COVID-related mental health concerns.

Dr. Clark will look at the social and emotional aspects of vaccine safety and whether people decide to take the vaccine. He will also cover the impacts on hospitals and health systems as front-line health workers struggle to cope with the stresses and pressures of a COVID-dominated work environment. The presentation will also explore how people cope with stress in both healthy and unhealthy ways and discuss the rise in addictive and violent behavior in the home that we’ve seen during the COVID pandemic.

We know that COVID has taken a toll on our individual, family and workplace well-being. This presentation will provide you with practical suggestions and advice for improving your well-being as our community continues to grapple with the mental health impacts of this pandemic.

About Our Speaker

Dr. Carl Clark’s early experience with his father’s bipolar disorder sparked a commitment to helping people with mental illness regain their lives, hopes and aspirations. As President & Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Center of Denver, Dr. Clark leads the organization in “focusing on what people can do, not what they can’t do.”

He has dedicated his career to improving the well-being of the Denver community and beyond through a focus on health promotion, well-being, resilience, and recovery across the lifespan.

More than 10 years ago, Dr. Clark challenged the Mental Health Center of Denver to be “The Center of Excellence” with the best and most innovative mental health services in the country. Since then he has led the way in delivering strengths-based, person-centered, culturally proficient services.

Dr. Clark inspires a culture of well-being within the Mental Health Center of Denver and beyond. Under his visionary leadership, the Mental Health Center of Denver received the Denver Post Top Work Places Award the past six years in a row and was awarded the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Large Non-Profit of the Year in 2013. Dr. Clark has extensive involvement at the local, state, and national levels.

Dr. Clark joined the Mental Health Center of Denver in 1989. He became the Medical Director in 1991, Chief Executive Officer in 2000 and President & CEO in 2014.

As President and CEO, Dr. Clark is the visionary leader for the entire Mental Health Center of Denver organization. He reports directly to the board of directors and is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the organization, directs the implementation of programs and activities approved by the board, and proposes, prepares and presents specific programs and activities to the board that will further the organization’s purposes. Additionally, Dr. Clark inspires the organization to pursue its goal of being the Center of Excellence in recovery-focused care with the best mental health services in the country.
