U.S. Healthcare From an International Perspective – What Can We Learn From Others?”
Robert K. Smoldt, Associate Director, Healthcare Delivery and Policy Program, Arizona State University; Chief Administrative Officer Emeritus, Mayo Clinic
In this session Bob will describe some key issues involved in evaluating a country’s healthcare system. The results of a variety of organizations ranking of countries on their health systems will be reviewed. In addition, a construct for describing and categorizing a country’s health system from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be used to look at selected health systems around the world. The audience will be split into three groups before the session and each group assigned a country that reflects one of the three major types of healthcare systems under the OECD framework. A short description of the assigned country will be provided to each person that has registered for the meeting.
